On a Road Trip to or from Arizona and California? Stay in Lake Havasu!
I recently discovered Lake Havasu, AZ, a cool town right on the border of Arizona and California, while looking for a place to stay on a road trip from Phoenix to Los Angeles. We enjoyed the place so much that we stayed an extra night! I found Lake Havasu is a desert oasis of water activities and relaxation. Here are some things to check out:
State Parks and Water Activities
There are several parks surrounding the town with fun water activities, from paddle boarding, boating, jet skiing, and fishing. It was 400 miles of scenic shoreline to enjoy:
- • Lake Havasu State Park—A great place for outdoor activities, this park has camping, swimming, hiking, and even bird watching. It has beautiful sandy beaches with clear water, nature trails, picnic areas (shaded!), and boat ramps. Don't miss the stunning desert sunsets!
- • Sara Park—If you're looking for more hiking and biking trails, this is the place for you. The views of canyons and the lake are beautiful.
- • Off-Roading Trails—If you're looking for tranquility, there's over 1,800 miles of off-road trails that wind through dunes, canyons, and open desert landscapes.
The City
This city itself is a welcome and relaxing town, with a lot of restaurants and areas to just relax. After a day of being in the water, we went to dinner and walked around, finding some lovely history:
- • London Bridge—In 1971, a bridge that had been in London, England over the Thames River, was brought over and built in Lake Havasu. It's now a major attraction in Lake Havasu, and an anchor in the city and community.
Where to stay
This peaceful and relaxing property is great for staying with the whole family or friends at Lake Havasu! It has 4 bedrooms and a pool, and can host up to 6 guests!
